Francis Indra, 83, of
A Mass of
Christian burial was held at St. Henry’s Catholic Church. Burial was in the church cemetery, with graveside military rites
conducted by American Legion Post No. 189.
Francis was born
Francis attended
St. Henry Catholic Grade School and was a 1937 graduate of Watertown Senior
High School. He had been employed as
co-owner and operator of Watertown Sod Company for more than 35 years.
Francis was a
lifelong member of St. Henry Catholic Church in Watertown and a former member
of the Knights of Columbus. He served in
the United States Army from 1944 to 1946 in Germany during World War II. He received a Victory Medal, American Theater
Ribbon, European African Middle Eastern Theater Ribbon
with two Bronze Battle Stars, three overseas Service Bars, a Service Stripe and
the Good Conduct Medal. He was a member
of American Legion Post No. 189.
With his love for
baseball, Francis played on numerous leagues in his early years. He was an avid
Cubs fan, enjoyed fishing, bowling, crossword puzzles and card playing.
